I enter 'bootlist -m normal cd0'

Then I run 'bootlist -om normal'

It returns:
cd0

But when I issue 'shutdown -Fr' it will not boot off of the CD. It works for rmt0 and hdisk0, and I can mount and 'ls' CD's so the drive is good. Updating the bootlist with 'diag' does the same thing. The service bootlist gives the same results as well. The only method that works is SMS (so the CD is bootable.)

Any ideas???

By the way, these are brand new 44P 170's and all 4 are doing the same thing.

Hi Canes !

This is only just an idea , i haven't tried it out , can u check the scsi id's assigned to the cdrom, tape and harddisk and post the results , i feel that the device u prefer to boot from should be assigned a lower scsi id than the other devices attached in the same bus, this is just my idea - correct me if i am wrong.
hope this helps

Thanks for the response rajeshrcmc!

I don 't think the scsi ID matters. The id's are below.

# lsdev -Cs scsi
cd0 Available 10-60-00-1,0 16 Bit SCSI Multimedia CD-ROM Drive
rmt0 Available 10-60-00-2,0 SCSI 4mm Tape Drive
hdisk0 Available 10-60-00-4,0 16 Bit LVD SCSI Disk Drive

Another interesting deveolpment: After restoring a 4.3.3 mksysb, it worked. Actually the scsi id's above are after the restore, so they don't necessarily reflect the situation at the time. (I was running 4.3.2)
