Hello.

I am trying to port some software to both 64 and 32 bit HP-UX. My workstation is a Visualize B2000 (785) running 64 bit HP-UX v.11.00 A (came with it installed).

What I'd liike to know is if there is a way to boot into 32 bit mode without having to reinstall the OS. There is on Solaris UNIX, but I can't find anything in the HP docs or on FAQ's and searches I've done so far. I would think the ability exists but maybe isn't well known. Thx.

if getconf KERNEL_BITS shows 64 then the OS is 64bit, no options to boot it to "32bit" only. If you want 11.0 32bit you'll have to reinstall the OS, there's an install doc on that shows how to transition between 64 and 32bit. HP-UX 11.0 64bit will also run your 32bit apps.

Hope this helps.
