Hi all,

I have an old E250 out there that when it reboots, whether controlled or otherwise, it tries to boot from net instead of disk. Env states disk THEN net so it is the correct order. Just in case I restated setenv boot_device disk net.

Funny thing is that when in the prom I issue "boot disk" and it comes up fine. No changes have been to this box (patches, etc..) so I'm kinda at a loss..

any ideas?

Good question.

I can assume it's set to net but I need to set things up to take the server down to the check the prom.
I seem to remember a way to get those settings from eeprom though. If true do know the command?
This server runs a db which I can't just "stop"

Thanks

reinstalled;

the command is eeprom from the OS.

Also check diag-switch if this is true it will also attempt to boot net. If it is true set it to false.
To set it to false from OS run eeprom diag-switch?=false. then run eeprom again to make sure it took it. Then next time you reboot, it will be set.

thanks

eeprom returns "No match"

eeprom diag-switch? is the command I am running.

Thanks

what is the key switch position, if it points to the "heart monitor line" it is in diag mode

Thanks Franz.
Didn't even think of that.
I'll have my client take a look.

So you are saying that the eeprom command does not exist in the OS?

maybe they do not have a complete install with OEM support.

run more more /var/sadm/system/admin/CLUSTER to check their cluster.

Besides this you can run;

prtconf -vp | grep diag-device

prtconf -vp | grep diag-switch

or even prtconf -vp | more

not to far down you will see all nvram setting.

Thanks
