Hello community

Is there already a possibility to boot from SAN using iSCSI technology?

Yep, that's that what I found while 'googeling'. But I think this is still in development. What I see, that this technologie supports Microsoft OSes. So, in our environement with Windows, RHAS 2.1/3.0 and SuSE, this solution would work fine. BUT: They say that iBoot has been licensed to a major US customer. Who is this? Did they already produce some hardware?

Well, what hardware do you suggest? I'm using IBM xSeries and HP Proliant Servers.

Steve

Normally the restriction/support requirments are set by your SAN storage supplier or SAN/ISCSI Gateway provider..

TO maintain (if you give a stuff) your support, you would most likely have to talk with the vendor that supplied your SAN/ISCSI hardware.

Remember famous last words.....

Ohhhh ummmm Yes it should work, BUT!! its not
supported "on paper"....sorry.

Best regards

Bernard
