I booted and installed a workstation from dat tape that was created using ignites make_recovery_tape.

However there is loads missing, some daemons have not started up, also on boot up the syslogd fails as the syslog directory is missing - also it now does not boot into CDE. the path is different etc.....

I assumed the make_recovery_tape was a complete backup of the system and booting from it and reinstallation would be the same.

What can I do now. Is it possible to do a fbackup of another workstation and frecover to this one? Or do I need to do a fresh installation from CD?

All sorted now!

fbackup another machine and do a frestore on the faulty machine :)
