Can anyone tell me if there's a way to create a bootable backup of a Solaris system so that you can rebuild your server with one cartridge (as one can do with "mksysb" on Aix) ?
All you have to do is boot from the OS cdrom. Then mount the "/" filesystem and do the installboot command. Copy the exact syntax from man installboot.
Then you can reboot and have access to your disk.
While not quite the same a makesysb tape on AIX, Solaris 8 has a facility called fssnap. This gives a snapshot of your filesystem which can be restored quicker than restoring from tape.
