When I boot my computer (win 2k 128 mgs ram, daul hdd's , cdrw, 400 mhz cpu) it POSTs and then updates, and then displays a string of character about 10 digits long that includes smiley faces and lines and begins with ZX[Y. WHen i press any key, it reproduces the message any help?

did it start doing this after you installed a new piece of software or hardware?

I use a Boot Manager to dual boot XP Pro and Win ME (the wife uses WinME - I fecking hate it!!!) and for some reason it gives 2 options for XP Pro - and if you choose the first it does what yours does..... Scotsdude[bravo]

A rule I always use is to go back to a working configuration. It sounds like the OS is not even booting. If you cant remember the last thing added, remove EVERYTHING, and just have your RAM, Video card and CPU. Let it POST and give you some readable errors. Then add your 3 1/2" floppy and boot of a disk. If that works you might have to reinstall the OS, but start with a simple configuration.
