Boot up problem

Can anyone help?
I have a Laptop connected to a Monitor running Win2000.When i boot up the machine , power goes to the Monitor but cannot get a picture on the Monitor.I have tried the F3 function but this still does not work.Anyone got any ideas?

Usually it is a combination of the Fn key and one of the F_ keys that will toggle between the LCD or CRT or both. Check the color of the Fn key marking and the F_ keys or others.
