I tried to power up my computer yesturday and when I touched the power button I got a static electricity shock, I did not even press the power button in and the computer started to turn on. After a few seconds the computer shutdown. Now its dead. If you unplug the power cord from the power supply and wait about 10 seconds and plug it back in the computer starts to turn on then after 3-5 seconds it turns off. Any suggestions. I thought the power supply might of shorted but I bought a new one and the same thng happens

If the power button is made of plastic there should be no way for the charge to travel to the electrical components in the power button or the mobo-unless there is a serious safety malfunction on the power button.
Have you opened the case and tried to remove the memory-boot up and listen for beeps?

I have not removed the memory-bootup, what is the MOBO

MOBO-Motherboard.
Sorry,should have pointed that out.
This should read:
"Have you opened the case and tried to remove the memory. Boot up and listen for beeps?"

I have not tried that, what will the beebs mean?? this is a computer that was built.

Hmmmm....
If you remove the memory and hear beeping sounds when you boot up it points towards dodgy memory.(this could also mean a dodgy board)
If this was a built PC I fear that some component was not earthed correctly, most likely the case. Your board could indeed be irreparably damaged.

You might want to try switching in a new power supply actually, and maybe a new power switch. I have had those things blow up and take out the power supply before but not damage the MOBO.

I did by a new power supply and the same thing is happening.
