I have partition and formated my 6.4gb hard drive. I am installing Win98 and I get a error message "boot sector:Write!! Virus detected",it hangs there. I connected it to my other system as a secondary and ran a virus scan (Norton 2003) it came up clean. Where should I go from here?????????????

Howdy:

Boot into BIOS and disabled the onboard av program..

I second the bios suggestion. You can also try booting to a dos prompt, if possible, and running fdisk /mbr. It freshens the master boot record w/out losing anything.
Hope this helps.

Hmmm sounds like a corrupted boot.ini file to me, can you boot from the win98 start up disk?

Thanks guys the problem has been resolved when I disabled the antivirus in the bios no more problems.

BIOS virus protection protects the MBR of the disk.
If you partition a harddisk this must always
be disabled , else the partition cant write a new MBR:
