Boot Problems with Gateway EV700 using AMD Athalon

Hello,
I'm having a problem booting my computer when I install Redhat 9.0 . THe installation goes fine but when it attempts to boot it Freezes at the line
init 2.84 .

I tried changing the apm=0ff as suggested in an article on REDHAT's website but then I get a Kernel Panic.

Computer is a Gateway EV700 with an AMD Athalon 600 processor.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did you test 'acpi=off'?

I tried acpi =off and got a kernal panic.
This is the same thing I got when I put in the apm=off.

Isn't the EV700 a monitor? I am looking at an EV700 monitor as I write this.

Yes it is. My bad BFKS3230. And by the way that monitor sucks, Mine went out.

Update--
I chose to install this on a computer that had an intel chip and it ran fine. I think there is a problem trying to install on AMD chips.
