SCO 6.0 Full message:
UX: vxfs fsck: ERROR illegal option - - a
UX: vxfs fsck: TO Fix: usage: fsck (etc)...
Failed to mound /d filesystem

I can fix the filesystem in the 'filesystem manager' and mount it. Fine. Then, on the next reboot, it gives the same ERROR.

I can't seem to fix the /d filesystem in a permanent way. Any hints as to what to do now?

It used to work for years.(until a power loss)

What are the contents of /etc/fstab (I think that's what it's called on SCO... it's been a while)?

Annihilannic.

On an earlier version one way to fix the problem was to remove the filesystem then install it again.

That cleared any problems associated with the auto mount.

Give the wrong symptoms, get the wrong solutions.

Annihilannic: Thanks for your response. I do not see any file /etc/fstab in this SCO 6.0.

The strange thing: it will mount from the "SCO filesystem manager" even without the filesystem checking and fixing process.

Below is a copy of the boot log when this occurs. The first 4 lines contain the failed filesystem command.

Ed Fair: Thanks for your suggestion. I could try this idea later tonight when the system is off line.

What is the content of /etc/default/filesys ?

Hope This Helps, PH.

PHV: here is the /etc/default/filesys section that is relevent to this filesystem /d mounting error:

bdev=/dev/dsk/c0b0t0d0p1s3 cdev= \
mountdir=/d mount=yes fstyp=vxfs \
fsck=yes fsckflags="-y -ofull" \
fcmount=yes fcfsck=yes \
mntopts=rw

Any suggestions are really appreciated.

I'd replace this:
fcfsck=yes
with this:
rcfsck=dirty

Hope This Helps, PH.

Anyway, I'd apply the MP3:
