I have XP at the first 30 GB of a HDD. Then goes Linux SWAP and Linux EXT2 partitions. The question is - if I install a boot loader, and some day decide to remove Linux (and the loader), will I loose XP?

No you will not. You would have to boot with an XP boot disk and format the MBR though. //Daniel

I just went through this today. I removed linux from an XP/Mandrake dual booting laptop, in order to use vmware to host a linux guest. I just used a Win98 boot CD and, to restore the master boot record, at the a prompt I did:
a:\> fdisk /mbr

That worked just fine.
