I am looking to build an MP3 player and would prefer to be able to build a system which would not require havint to be shutdown but rather just turned off.

Is it possible to boot Linux using a read only setting so that once the system is fully configured and operational I can then change the boot type and not have to worry about the proper shutdown procedure.

Thanks

Jonathan

Linux is often used in embedded devices and I doubt they are supposed to do classic shutdown ;-) It is not so easy, though. I suggest more research.
