WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO MAKE A THUMB DRIVE BOOTABLE? ANYONE KNOW AN EASY WAY? OR A WAY?

Use Windows own format Tool

Where are those options Phil? I don't have those on my system.

thx, how would I put ghost on to use ghost for recovery?

Apologies...
That's an old App I installed back when I built my first Win 7 Image. It replaces Windows own format Dialog.

Truthfully I can't find the executable, or remember its name.

In any case, For Ghost, there's another similar alternative that's quite simple to implement.

Ghost Boot USB said:
It is possible to use the Ghost Boot Disk files on a USB flash drive. Here are the instructions. Not all USB Flash Drives will work.

Download the HP Flash Drive Utility
HYPERLINK " USB Disk Storage Format Tool V 2.1.8 a

Download the USB version of the GBD files
 HYPERLINK " Manual
 HYPERLINK " Automatic

Install the HP utility

Extract the USB GBD files to any location

Copy your own Ghost.exe file to the extracted Ghost folder

Plug in your USB flash drive

Run the HP utility

In the Device dropdown, select your flash drive
(CAUTION!!! Make sure you select the correct flash drive)

In the File system dropdown, select FAT32

In the Volume Label, put anything you want

Uncheck Quick Format

Check Create a DOS Startup Disk

Locate the USB-GBD files you extracted in step 4

Click Start

Copy all the extracted USB-GBD files to the newly formatted USB Flash Disk

Eject the USB Flash Disk and give it a try
