I just installed a 8800gtx and my computer starts to boot, but reads"boot failure, insert system disc" and does not continue to windows xp.

sidenote: 1)my friend built my computer months ago and the motherboard or bios wasn't happy with the corsair 2x 1g sticks so we bought slower memory and he altered bios settings so reinstalling the memory would be compatible.

sidenote: 2) due to the size of the new GPU I had to unplug power from the mb and hdd and dvd drives to rearrange wires and drives so accomadate new hardware spatially.

sidenote: 3) my power supply only has one dedicated pci e cord so i used the addaptor that came with the gpu to convert the standard white connectors into the second gpu pci e connector that the gpu requires

Did this reset something along the lines of our previous memory fix, or possible power issue with gpu, or something else. I have one go to guy for these kinds of scenarios and he is hard to get ahold of. I'm desparately trying to get this thing working so i can testdrive my new graphics card.
Any help would be amazing thanx!

sulot00,

Welcome to the fray. What was the problem/solution? It's polite to post it even if you have solved it yourself, as we all have many times.
