Hi,

I am trying to install Solaris 8 from CD. The Installation all appears OK until a reboot at the end which displays the following boot errors :-

boot: cannot find misc/krtld
boot: error loading interpreter ( misc/krtld )
boot failed
Enter Filename [/platform/SUNW,SPARCstation-5/kernel/unix]

I have tried re-formatting the hard disk but with no success. Any ideas ?

just a suggestion, at your boot prom (or a prompt) ensure
that you have disk0 pointed to the right device. If not, the system is probably looking for the disk, and it is not
there.

to ensure proper disk position, try investigating;

1. try typing [ok] boot disk1, then boot disk2, etc.

it maybe that the device is position on a different disk
device

Thanks,

I have tried your suggestions and find that the disk position is 3 ie [ok] boot disk3 works but still generates the same error.

It's the partition 3, not disk 3. Try this:

ok boot disk:c (means boot from disk, partition 3)

Let know if it's working.
