I have a laptop running Windows ME which has suddenly stopped booting correctly. Boots OK in safe mode, but in normal (selective startup - all startup items have been disabled) mode, the PC boots, but, when it gets to the Desktop, it hangs - with no Start Menu taskbar or ICON's displayed.

Help please

When did this start occuring? Any changes made?

If you have an up-to-date virus scanner, I'd scan in safe mode.

You might also try using the System Restore feature to go back to a time before this started, I believe you can initiate it in safe mode. Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.

Problem solved, thanks. Turned out to be incorrect info in system.ini file
