I have a Dell 8100 laptop which does not support booting via USB2 (PC card to a clone on a Maxtor external storage device). This is Dell's response to my request for assistance.

"All Dell systems are shipped with USB 1.1 and therefore we are not in a position to answer this query. Thank you for choosing Dell."

Is there any possible work-around to boot a clone of C: via USB2? Thank you.

The BIOS would first have to allow booting from an external device and as far as I know, there is none such at the present time. Legacy DOS support is pretty much limited to keyboards and mice.
