Hi,

We are using a managed SharePoint service and would like get access to content stored in a document library using boolean searches in addition to the standard search functionality provided. Can anyone advise how this could be achieved? (note that we are using a shared service and are not permitted to install admin-level components. we can install Web PArts, however).

Thank you for your help.

Ronald

You could write a Web part that queries the DOC table in the database. I assume by "Boolean" you mean querying attributes of the documents and not their contents.

Thanks. Yes. It is to query the attributes of uploaded content within the Document Library. Unfortunately I have no knowledge of how to write a web part (but used to program a long time ago in several languages).. Any idea how long this would take or would it be possible to get some code clues/pointers to get me started?

Thanks a lot!

Also meant to add that by Bolean, I mean AND, NOT, OR operators.

if you're using sps2003, there's a web part template you can download for visual studio 2003 from msdn. there should also be a sdk to help you out.
