Dear All

Anybody knows which books are good for learning and
writing scripts.

Hello !

This is a great one "Unix Shell programming"
by Stephen Kochan and Patrick Wood ISBN 0-672-48448-X

/Danne

Learning the Korn Shell by Bill Rosenblatt, O'reilly & Associates, Inc. ISBN#: 1-56592-054-6, $29.95us. There may be a new addition, but the title will be the same.
Jon Zimmer

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.

Favorite Korn Shell Books,

(I do not benefit in any way
whatever from the sale,
promotion, of advetising of any
of these books.)

The best book FOR YOU is one YOU can
read and understand. NO book is good
for you if you can't\don't understand
it - because of the way it's written. Read a
few passages to see if it "makes sense"
to you! Also, look for a good Index. If
you can't find what you want in a book
(even though it's there), because of a
poor Index, or poor chapter organization,
you can't benefit from the book.

(1) Korn Shell Programming
by Example,
by Dennis O'brien with
David Pitts,
QUE, Publisher

- readable, thorough
- beginner or intermediate

(2) The Korn Shell, 3rd. Edition,
Linux & Unix Programming Manual

- readable, thorough
- beginner or intermediate

(3) Hands-ON KornShell93
Programming
,
by Barry Rosenberg,
Addison Wesley, Publisher

- readable, thorough
- beginner or intermediate

(4) Unix Shells by Example,
by Ellen Quigley,
Prentice Hall, Publisher
Chapter-10, Pages 415-570

(Enough pages for a book, all
in Chapter 10). PLUS lots
of OTHER Unix subjects are
covered in an excellent way.

- readable, thorough
- beginner, intermediate
