Hopefully it's a simple browser setting, but my bookmarks are not working in IE, but do in Firefox. Any pointers? Thanks

Need more information.

What does it mean that they don't work? Are you trying to make a bookmark programatically? Please explain in more detail so that we can help you better.

I set a bookmark within a button to go to a specific point on a page in a frame. Normal application. The operation works when looking at the site with Firefox but not with IE. Thanks

As a general rule with framed pages, it is highly unlikely to be able to bookmark a specific page in the frameset. You bookmark entire frameset which points to the first page. That is one of the downsides of frames. If FF does that, thank your lucky stars, but don't expect others to follow.

Thanks Vragabond. Strange, I've done it in the past okay, but take your word I must have been lucky.

Does work. I have a page with multiple forms on. The menu buttons select page/bookmark position appearing in a frame. I had placed the bookmark inside a forms perimeter, didn't work on IE. Moved bookmark outside of forms and they all work. I was about to create new individual pages, now no need.

In your specific language, what is a bookmark? Bookmark for me is storing the page in your browser for later use. A Netscape equivalent of IE's favorites.

Thanks. I take the word bookmark as a place/postion to go back to. You put a bookmark in a book to remeber where you were, In Access, VBA one would use bookmarks to go to a place within files. Regards, thanks again.

I set a bookmark within a button...
You're still not making much sense, what exactly does this "making of bookmarks" entail? Are you talking about creating a link, on a page that you're authoring, to a particular place on a page? Could you post some code or (better) a URL?

I don't know why there is so much confusion. A site having a 2 pane Frame. The frames are aligned vertically, the left being the narrower. The left frame/page is filled with buttons. When clicking a button, the position of the page in the main frame changes to match the subject of the button. The page in the main frame being a long one full of forms. Thats it, nothing else. Thanks

The confusion is that the word 'bookmark' has a specific meaning in the world of web. It is a webpage stored in the browser. What you are talking about are anchors, but if you read all your replies up to this point, you never explain it. Were you to say 'I need a code that will scroll the page to a specific point when button is pressed, we would know what you're talking about and point you to anchors, however if you are using terms that only make sense to you, we're bound to be confused. Were I to ask you how to make frames in VBA, you might have been similarly confused.

OK, we're getting there slowly. Now either post the URL/web address/wardrobe/whatever-you-call-it of the page in question, or post the code you're using to perorm the link, and the code on the bit of the page that you want to jump to.

Thanks Vragabond, and now realise now after you explaining the
terminology of the word in web design. Had I have known then I would have rephrased everything totally and not confused people the way I obviously did. Anyhow thanks for all your help and others as always, the pages work as reported earlier.

I will not use my past software way of thinking/explaining again.

Have a good weekend.
