You could also safely rename .p65 as .pmd in Windows Explorer if you have a lot of them. Technically they are the same. In fact, in most cases you can even rename a .pmd as a .p65 ad open a PM7 document in pm6.5.
This is certainly not recommended workflow, but it is an emergency workaround.
