I have an HP Pentium that I wanted to put a larger drive into - I purchased a 6.5 gig and when I put it in and try to boot from the disk, I get the flashing bar on the top but it does not get to the point of a drive letter. When I put the old 2.5 in it boots from the disk like it is supposed to.
????????
Does the computer not support a drive this large?

Drives need to have partitions laid out with fdisk and made available with format before they become operational.
Your system may , or may not. support a drive that large. But I would suspect that it does.
But in the istallation, you probably need to fix the diagnostic partition too.

Thank You - I have the problem fixed. The system does not support it - the Maxtor drive I bought has a jumper for drive limitations. I put the jumper on and it reads 2.1 gig on my bios, but when I'm in windows the properties show the 6.5 gig.
