I am trying to bold portions of text that are first defined and entered into a memo field of an access 97 table.
When the report is assembled, the memo field is tied to the report via text box control whose row source is equated to a query that pulls in the correct memo field to produce a report.

Is this feasible or even possible ?? Would appreciate some tips!!!

I don't think you can change the font characteristics in the middle of a normal textbox. But you should be able to do this using the Microsoft Rich Text Box Control.

Good Luck

Not possible unfortunately with the standard toolbox text control to bold part of a string . There are however third party controls which you can add to your application which do allow this (they are sort of like 'mini word processors'). Check out for example:

There may even be some free shareware controls available.
