I replaced a customer's Merlin Legend with a Merlin Magix. They previously had an analog station port connected to the telephone Night/Ring terminals on the TPU100. The analog port covered the operator and they heard ringing over paging when cover was activated. Now on the Magix I programmed the same configuration (verified with butt set)but no longer have ringing over paging. I connected the Bogen Night/Ring terminals direct to an analog CO line on the RJ21 and have ringing over paging so that rules out the Bogen unit.

Is there a Wheelock, Bogen or similar item that will take my analog port ringing and "amplify" to 90V to trip the Night/Ring or is there another work around.

Any input is welcome. Thanks

Did you check the analogue station port for ringing voltage when you call it? Did you use the same analogue station module fron the Legend? Is the cover assigned the same as the old system?

SYQUEST - It is an 016TR for the Magix, not the same card as from the Legend. My voltage meter indicates an output of approximately 50V. Do you know what the normal ringing output is for the Magix 016TR module?

With the MAGIX, you have the option of changing the RINGING FREQUENCY of the 016-TRR module.

I would advise that you play with this setting, rather than being concerned about the voltage.

That's probably where the issue is.

viking model rg-10a ring booster by viking electronics
will detect ringing from 40v to 150v

Just use a Viking to detect the ringing voltage and generate the tone, which you can bridge to the paging input or to the MOH input.

OR, use an AC relay to trigger on the ringing voltage, and connect its contacts to the dry-contact input of the TPU-100.

Thanks for all of the input. I used a Wheelock CRT-T-40 Relay to trip the Night Ring contact closure and it works when the receptionist is covered or puts system in Night Service.

I also had to change the Ring Frequency to 25Hz.

Really seemed like the ring cadence changed and barely had enough time to trip the Relay. At least it works!
