I've got a customer that has a MICS w/ 6.0. They had a seperate vendor hook up a dual zone paging unit. I hooked up the "page" pair (BLK/SLT SLT/BLK). Should this have been hooked up to the External Page pair (Y/BLUE BLUE/Y)?? Any info is appreciated..
Thanks

bk/sl is correct if it has a paging input.
Although some are set up for CO trunk access- particularly for zoned paging.

Another way to make zones work is to go off a 7100's speaker output.

It all depends if you have speakers/ horns in different zones.

You should hear the page coming off the pair of the system.

I did hear the page off the page pair. The Bogen equipment has an input that I plug the pairs into. The vendor that installed the page equipment put a tone on the input and got it out over the speakers. The vendor says I need an analog trunk to hook up to the page equipment. This is how it's done on Meridian PBXs with a Universal Trunk card but I've never had to do this with a MICS. The customer doesn't want to pay for trip charges to get this fixed because I've already been out there once and i'm sure the page equip. vendor charged them as well.....!!

Hopefully the customer has an available analog trunk port, or they'll have to pay for that as well. If you need multiple external page zones, that is the way to do it though.

All the Norstar locations that I ever installed with Bogen Gold Series Amps had a telephone page port built in. If the customer did not have the interfacing vendors communicate prior- oh well.

The Paging vendor can supply a station side controller. That's how it is usually done on Norstar Key Systems. He should of checked with your company first.

If you confirmed the output from the Norstar- it's the Paging Vendor's problem to resolve.

If the customer doesn't have a spare trunk port/trunk card slot- there will be the additional costs for any of that equipment.
