Both servers are the same spec machines, are there any settings I can try to get things sped up?

Many thanks,

You may find that some reports are interpreted differently and not passing the SQL.

All things equal, I saw a slight performance drop moving to XI.

EO,

We share another complaint - here is some stats for you:

CE10 - uses 39K of bandwidth to reveal desktop and folders/subfolders

BOEXIR2 - uses 185K of bandwidth for very same navigation path

I have no problems running reports once the user can navigate to them - but in remote areas of our network - up to 10 minutes to see the full Infoview interface is causing me lots of complaints about performance....

Sound familiar?

Hi Paulmarr,

I sure does sound familiar. I am trying to fire fight user complaints about the performance, and do not have an idea on how to fix it. I wished BOBJ would have categorically stated that there is such a severe performance decrease between CE10 and BORxi r2

Anyone have any ideas on how this can be sped up. Also how do I stop sessions timing out?

The major problem is that reports are extremely slow to open, and sometimes times out all together as a result.
Two questions:
(1) The server manageing page views (Page Server) - is there no setting we can use in this regard.
(2) Cashing - in the former CE10, very large reports also took a while to render, but once it happened once, it was cashed, so any views thereafter by anyone from any machine was much quicker. The same does not seem to apply here.

We needed to increase the Internet Explorer timeout which is 3 minutes by default - which we increased to 30 minutes - any longer and the report should probably be scheduled.

The cache rules are determined on the Cache Server - you can keep the data for 60 minutes, etc...

I have gone through the server settings in the Admin guide and changed the Location of the Temp Files of both tha Crystal Reports Page Server and the Crystal Reports Cache Server from...

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Data\aflon1cry02.pageserver\
to
D:\Data\aflon1cry02.pageserver\

and

C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Data\aflon1cry02.cacheserver\
to
D:\Data\aflon1cry02.cacheserver\

respectively...as my D: has loads more free disk space than my C:, and in the admin guide it states that low disk space might lead to slower job processing

I have actually copied the aflon1cry02.cacheserver and aflon1cry02.pageserver folders across to D:
Is it safe to delete the folders on C:??
