**planning SP2 once we figure-out the "fix-pack" issue
Windows Server 2003 (SP1)
----------------------------

We are planning on testing/rolling-out Service Pack 2 for BOE-XI (R2) this summer.

From some of the stuff I have read on this and other boards, Service Pack 2 can introduce new issues.

BOBJ has alreasy released "Fix Pack" 2.1 and 2.2 for Service Pack 2, which makes our "Change Management" team a little uneasy.

Is all of this stuff "ready for PrimeTime", and working OK?

My assumption is that from my current configuration, I would want to apply SP2 the FP 2.2 - is that correct?

Any tips, tricks, documentation or warnings would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Go slow, test, test, test. We have the same uneasiness and are up to SP2 on our dev box.

Thanks so much!

I have run into some problems with SP2. My dev environment was similar to yours - BOE-XI (R2) - SP1, MHF1. In installed the SP2 Patch and then Fix Pack 1. When I go to the CMC and click on Folders, Groups, or Users, nothing appears. There is also an error coming up in Webi the first time we try to open some (but not all) reports "Your Web Intelligence server version is incompatible with this client version. Contact your Business Objects administrator. (Error: RWI 00240)"

I opened a support case and the tech had me completely uninstall everything and then reinstall the SP2 Full Install and Fix Pack 1. This solved the problem I was having in the CMC, but did not resolve the Webi error, so the case is still open.

IIRC, I had problems with the SP1 Patch as well and ended up uninstalling what I had and then reinstalling with the SP1 full install. This is going to make me doubt any of the patches at the Service Pack level from here on out....

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

...and this morning we got a notice about "Fix Pack 2.3".

Are these like the old "Monthly Hot Fixes" which were optional, or are they like the old "Critical Hot Fixes" which were required....?

The volume of these "Fix Packs" doesn't fill me with confidence about SP2.

Any thoughts, comments...?

Hey MjRBIM,

with Service Pack 2 BO introduced a new Fix Pack Management.
In future there will be only Fix Packs and no longer any Critical Hot Fixes or Monthly Hot Fixes. Fix Pack 2.3 means third Fix for SP 2. So with SP 3 the followings Fix Packs will named 3.x .

We installed Fix Pack 2.3 last week and find it very usefull because now it is possible to let voyager get an connection to a remote as 2005 server.
