BOE XI r2 and Oracle 8.1

According to the platform.pdf Oracle 8.1 is no longer supported.
It seems that a report schedule will just start running and then crashes.

Has anyone got BOE XI or XIr2 working with a native connection for Oracle 8.1?

Is there a workaroud?

Hi,
What Client is installed on the BOEXI ( and/or XI R1)
box?

If not already installed,remove the 8.1 client and install the 9.2 version ( It can connect to an 8.1 Oracle database)..
