I would like to add another server to my BOE cluster of 3 VM's each with it's own CMS. Has anybody had any luck just cloning an existing VM and then renanming it. I would be referencing the same DB and file stores as the other's in the cluster. I am using BOE XI R3.1 SP2 FP2.4 running on Windows 2003 SP2 x64 OS.

I've done it with no ill effects, but as you mention the important thing is to rename it and update all the paths - filestore, cache, etc. - with UNC paths to a single location.

Cloning will get you the software installed. However, if you're on XI r2, you'll need to delete all of the "Servers" in the CCM and re-add them so that they're in the CMS database correctly. If you're on XI 3.x, you'll need to delete the SIA and re-add it for the same reason. Make sure that you turn off and disable the Servers/SIA prior to cloning so that they don't automatically come on when the new server is started - if they run they WILL cause problems in your system. Re-enable and restart them once the image/clone has been completed.
