BOE auditing of PDF or Excel 1

Does anyone know if there is an option to audit when PDF's or Excel are opened in BOE. If so, where is the event set.

I think it works in BI 4, but not previous versions. We had this issue with .txt files on BOE. We tried using a third party auditing tool with limited success.
