Good afternoon,

I have a Crystal Reports XI report that is pulling data from a SQL Server database. My report has about a dozen fields per record (listed on the details line) and it also has one sub-report that is pulling one field from a related table. The sub-report is populated with one record per line at most but is often blank as well.

I'm trying to export this data to a CSV file for import into another system but it seems that Crystal is ignoring the sub-report data all together. The help file for Crystal says that it will not export sub-reports when they are in page header or page footer sections. Since my sub report is in the details line it seems that it should export.

All help is most appreciated! Thanks in advance.

What can be exported varies with the type of export. Subreports are NOT supported in data exports like CSV. For the complete list, see the bottom of the page linked below and look for the document "Export Features and Limitations (10)". The last time they provided this document was for version 10, but it hasn't changed much since then.

One option you have is to use shared variables to bring the data back to the main report, then write a formula to create the entire CSV string for each row, and then export to text. Note that text exports are limited in how wide they can be so another option is to use one of the DLLs that can write to a text file from a formula. These DLLs are discussed in this article:
