BO 5.1 and Oracle 8.1.x Install Help needed

Hello Gurus,

I'm trying to install BO 5.1 with Oracle 8.1.x Client. I have tried the TNSPING, it works, but it fails with BO client. (Server Error)! I can't find any help from anywhere!! If you gurus can help me out to solve this issue, will be very much appreciable. Coz' the issue is pretty urgent.

Try the following :

1) tnsping80 <db>
2) Is the connection in the supervisor set to Oracle 8.1?
3) Is tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora in the correct directories (c:\orant\network\admin or c:\orant\net80\admin)
4) Is there another tnsnames.ora file hanging around that does not have your database defined?
5) Net 8.x is installed and not Sql*Net 2.x
6) The database name in the connection in Supervisor correct? (Try login on in SQL*Plus using the same values)

Also check the port settings of the TNSNames.ora file of the databases(s) that you are trying to connect too.
The ones i have are 1521 for the Producton Database (Live) and 1525 for the training database (TRN.

try putting

NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN = world

into your SQLNET.ORA file...
