Ive currently maintaining a site that uses BMC's Service Desk Express 9.8 as part of its structure. The site runs on win 2003 and due to this version of win server coming to end of life support we are looking into transferring it to either a win 2010 or win 2012 server.

Our support team, who have been in contact with BMC have come back saying the even the most recent version of BMC SDE only gives support up to win 2008, and is not officially supported on later servers. We've been unable to find out from them, whether it can run on later versions of win server (2010 or 2012) or whether this is not possible.

As both win 2003 and 2008 are no longer being supported by Microsoft (except with paid exclusive support) we need to find out if it is feasible to move SDE to a later server. Its likely we will need to buy a new service contract as unfortunately we can no longer determine the old licence (if any one knows how to obtain a current licence number from an existing install this would also be useful), but we dont want to start this process, if we are not going to be able to use SDE on the new server.

It would be useful to know if anybody successfully got BMC SDE working on win 2010 or win 2012, and if so what difficulties they encountered. Just knowing its possible is useful, but knowing the issues involved would be even more useful. The current version we have is 9.8, but we could upgrade to later versions if the database structure has not changed significantly.

Thanks in advance
