We have an IBM R51 Thinkpad with Windows XP Pro SP2 that is using a docking station and connected to an external monitor, a Dell 2005FPW 20" LCD monitor. The images are blurry and they look as if there is like a double exposure-thing going on; the icons look like a faint copy is offset and windows' side walls are blurry and look like they're bleeding onto the surrounding area. These ghost images are faint but distinct enough to be noticed. The Thinkpad's graphics driver is an Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME driver, and the monitor driver is the Dell 2005FPW driver. The resolution is set at 1280 by 1024, 60MHz, Highest Color 32bit, but even if we set it to 1680 by 1050 (which Dell says is the optimal setting), it still has these ghost images. Since this is a laptop, what would be the next course of action? Much Thanks...

Have you tried the monitor on another computer, desktop would be best.
Try reducing the screen resolution, not increasing it.
Try reducing the screen refresh rate or raising it if it is on 60hertz. Try another monitor, maybe a CRT.

You need to set it for 1680 x 1050 resolution at 60 Hz. And if Microsoft Cleartype is running, disable it. If no improvement try connecting to another computer.
