I have a Gateway FPD1730 flat screen monitor and it is a tad blurry, not illegible but a noticable difference from a CRT. Personally I hate it but hey, that's what they gave me. Anyhoo, does anyone know some good tricks/settings for getting crisper text and such? I'm running Win2k

Flat screens have a fixed resolution, as opposed to crts which do not. Say, a 17" flat screen may have 1024x768 physical LCD pixels, thus that's it's native mode, and any resultion other than the native mode will look blurry, such as 1280x1024 because the monitor has to resize the screen size back to 1024x768 to display.

It's the same if you shrink or enlarge an image in photoshop; it's going to look blurry.

So this could certainly be your problem, but if not, say so and maybe someone else has another idea.

Don't forget refresh rate settings (usually lower than CRT's) users setting them higher than specified will also get a "blury" screen.
Many are just 60htz, read the manual or box it came in for maximum resolution/refresh rate.

Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

I will check the resolutions settings and refresh rate on monday when I go into work. I'll let you know how it goes.
