I am using Photoshop5.5 and I am trying to blur the border of a photo. I don't want to blur the image, just the border. I have seen plenty of samples of this but cannot find any help/tutorials on how to do this - please help before I go insane.

Thanks

You could copy the area you wish to blur onto a new layer and then blur this and merge down... -------------------

1. Ctrl-A (select all)
2. Select -> Modify -> Contract
3. Contract by 20px (higher for larger images)
4. Select -> Feather
5. Feather by 20px (ditto above)
6. Ctrl-Shift-I (invert selection)
7. Backspace to clear edge

Mac users substitute Cmd for Ctrl.

Try cuting and pasting into a new document but typeing different numbers into the feather px box first. I think this is in the layers toolbar in 5.5 .It's in the top toolbar in 6.0. You will know when a sleection has been selected with this function as it shows a box with curved corners. I hope this makes sense as I am crap at explaining stuff! GOOD LUCK
