Bluring edges

I cut a circular shape out of an image and now I want to blur the edges to make it fade into the white background. What is the best tool to make this easy?

Outer glow works fairly nice - and easy - for that.

I might be reading it wrong, but I think you might want a feathered edge. If you do, just create the slection and then featehr, and delete.

You can also Control or Option click on the layer in the layers palette to select your circle. Click new mask at the bottom of the layers palette and fill in the mask with a black and white gradient. You won't lose any of your image and you can play with where you want the fade to start by changing the gradient.
