Hello all,

Kinda sure what Im supposed to do but not sure where to look.

Installed a USB Bluetooth Dongle and had it working fine with my phone via the Windows Bluetooth Utility. Installed BlueSoleil because it was supposed to be able to pair it better with a Bluetooth Serial Adapter and since then, I cant get the dongle to work with my phone anymore. Ive uninstalled BlueSoleil, ran CCLeaner and Autoruns, and uninstalled the dongle in device manager. When I go to the options page of the Windows Bluetooth now, it wont allow me to make changes, like to change it back to being discoverable.

The error that comes up is very generic, "An error occurred while Windows was saving your settings. The following settings were not saved: Discoverability settings and Connection settings."

Even with the Dongle removed, there is still a section in the Control Panel dedicated to bluetooth that wasnt there before I inserted the dongle. How do I uninstall/reinstall Windows Bluetooth manager? Is there a registry key that could be modified to make sure it is controlling the bluetooth settings because I know when BlueSoleil was installed, it said it would turn off the Windows manager. Any idea where to look or what to do outside of a reinstall of the OS?

Tried a sfc /scannow which did add some .ddl's but it still doesnt function. This happend on a laptop and a desktop just by installing and uninstalling software without any errors during the install/uninstall or system crashes.

Have you tried to do a system restore to a point before you installed BlueSoleil?

OS is XP on both desktop and laptop. Did a complete reinstall since I had some free time. As soon as I plug in the Dongle, XP auto loads the driver and it still has the same issue without BlueSoliel being installed on the fresh OS.

Found the XP bluetooth driver in win32 .dll folder and removed it so it would ask for a driver. I installed the recommended driver from the website with the same results.

Think the Dongle is broken, just gunna return it and see what I get back.
