I recently got a Microsoft Optical Desktop Elite setup (for Bluetooth), for one of our users. I installed the drivers, etc. on this users laptop (a Dell D610), which has built-in Bluetooth (therefore I did not see a need to use the supplied Bluetooth transciver which was bundled with the keyboard / mouse package.

Of course I was able to get the keyboard and mouse to connect to and work with the laptop. But this user takes his laptop home with him nightly, so when he arrives at the office and plugs in his laptop, he must tell the Bluetooth manager to connect to the devices. Now seemingly the keyboard requires a passkey to be entered on each subsequent connection (the mouse though does not require a passkey). What I want to have happen is when he turns on his laptop within range of the keyboard and mouse, I would like the keyboard and mouse to be discovered and auto-connected. Does anyone have any ideas on how I may go about doing this?

There should be an option in the bluetooth manger somewhere on how it acts when coming into range of bluetooth devices, or here is a very basic way to do it.Open windows task manager then start up the bluetooth manager, take a note of the process name e.g excel.exe.
Once you have the process name you can write a small batch file like

START WINWORD.EXE

and place it the start up folder, this will execute the bluetooth manger apon starting windows without user intervention :)
