I have a blutooth laptop and want to sync my ipaq rx3115 via bluetooth. I have followed the instructions on the ipaq and user guide (both are %%£"%$^&) and it still doesn't work. I have checked bluetooth serial ports on my laptop and ipaq and have tried various setting combinations but nothing works.

[RED] HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY GOT THIS WORKING??? [/RED]

I had to buy a bluetooth USB device for my Toshiba laptop, and my HP iPaq h2200 Pocket PC had bluetooth on it, and I did get it to work.

It was a year ago, though, and I forgot how I did it all, but it did work, but it was also such a hastle that I never did it again since it was so much easier just to hook the Pocket PC up to the laptop with the cradle, and much faster.

If I ever need to do it again I would have to use either the IR port or bluetooth since I am already syncing my PPC to two other computers and ActiveSync only allows you to sync up to two computers at a time. Another one of those ActiveSync bothers.

Keep at it if you really need it, it can be done. There are bluetooth sites around that may be able to help you out better than I can.

Good luck.

I have gotten Bluetooth HotSync working with my Dell Axim x50v and Dell Inspiron 9100 with Bluetooth built-in. It was tricky, but I did get it working after a few attempts.

First thing you want to do is download the lastest version of ActiveSync 3.8 software from Microsoft:

Then - without using your ActiveSync software, open the Bluetooth Manager on the laptop (make sure you have the Bluetooth active on the handheld too) - and let your Bluetooth Manager discover the handheld. Once it is discovered, determine what COM port it was found on. Then open ActiveSync and under "Connection Settings" uncheck everything except for the "Allow Serial Cable or Infared Connection to this COM Port" (also leave checked the "Show Status is Task Bar"). Pull down the list in under the "Allow Serial Cable . . ." checkbox (as described above) - and select the COM port that the Bluetooh device (the PocketPC), was discovered on. At some point (it may be during the "BlueTooth Device Discovery" portion of this whole process) - you will have to "Pair" the handheld to the laptop as part of the setup.

Now also keep in mind that you you have ensure that the Bluetooth Radio on the laptop has to be given a "Computer Name" (I just used the NetBIOS name of the computer), and to talk to it successfully, the Bluetooth Manager in the handheld, has to told the computer name as defined in the Bluetooth manager in the laptop.

I may not have explained all the steps in the order in which they are supposed to be done in but there are excellent guides that can also help you through it as well. For instance, you can check out this one . . . it seems to be pretty concise as to the steps involved.

It is a pain to do, but once it is done, it works very smoothly and is well worth it - that way you can save your cradle to sync with a machine that is not Bluetooth equpped (a second PC for backup purposes).

Good Luck.
