i have an xp home pc that when boots i get the options of safe mode / last good config / start normal, regardless of what i choose i get a blue screen, the blue screen flashes for less than a second and then reboots back to the options screen.
Anyone have any idea of possible cause or my options to fix it?

p.s. i've tried system recovery but that hangs.

I tried F8 but the blue screen still flashed, so anyway i took a video of problem and replayed it back. The error message said 'Unmountable_Boot_volume' will i need to reinstall the o/s?

Possibly but there are a few things you can try first.

Have you tried setting the Bios to Safe defaults?

If they don't work you could try repairing windows by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
