Greetings,

I'm cleaning up a pc for a coworker. Virus & spyware removal went through without a problem. I ran msconfig and removed uncessecary startup items. Then did a registry tweak with TweakNow. I then defragmented the computer and installed zonealarm and avg on it. I reboot the computer once, and everything was fine. I could access files and checked the event viewer...everything was peachy.

After another reboot, I get a BSOD (0x8000c21) that gives me an error about "Cannot Logon" (This happens before the screen that lists the accounts, but after the windows xp progress bar).

No hardware issues were present before the recovery process. All I'm trying to do is access the "My Documents" folder and make a backup. From there I will nuke the drive and reinstal.

Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz Proc.
180 GB HDD
256 High-End Radeon Graphics Card
Windows XP Home
Soundmax
Zonealarm
AVG
Spybot S&D
Ad-Aware
TweakNow

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ben

I have always found that BSoD errors are corrupt memory related (try removing a stick at a time and booting up), otherwise I have nothing on that BSoD error. What about taking out the HDD and slaving it on another pc and trying to access "My Documents" that way? Hope it works for ya.

Computers are like bikinis. They save people a lot of guesswork.
