Any one know what would cause station ports to blow on a CICS KSU? A client had one go on his CICS some years ago and another one went recently. He says it's my fault because I was on site a few days before on other business and is now refusing to pay his bill for the service call. It would be nice to be able to explain to him what can cause this to happen. I have no explanation to offer at this time. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

That is strange that just some ports are blown. Are they all blown or just some and are they in a row like 101-108.
I have seen station modules go out with lighting strikes where the jacks are hit and it goes back thru the amp cable and blows the sta mod.

I love how clients do that. I suppose his toilet overflows are your fault too.

Reminded me of the time when I was scouting out the route for running a 25-pair cable when the power went out. The owner immediately came roaring into the room where I was and screamed, "What the hell did you do!" Fortunately the receptionist was right there to calmly tell him the power was out on the whole block. No apology, he just turned and stalked off.

Maybe some more info Brutalis

When did you last mess with that port.
They could have plugged something in since then.

Did you try another amp cable to test?
Re-terminate ALL?

Test the cable/jack that was connected to see if any ground or other issues with it and that it is not looped anywhere else.

Techs are not responsible for cables or jacks on site or what maybe plugged into them while you are not on site.

Seems to me if it happened before then there is something wrong at site or with the KSU and not any tech.

If its only an hour service call then I would kindly email them that you have done nothing wrong and if they do not want to pay the bill then not to worry, just never ever call you again.
Nobody needs that BS from any client, especially from those who don't even know how it all works.
