I started out with Cognos early 2007 after spending more than 10 years working with Business Objects full client tools. Apart from BO I have about 6 years of ETL experience, used to be my own DB2 DBA and have worked with Lotus Notes,Oracle,AS400, SQL server and Interbase.
I have recently become a certified Datavault modeller.
To be honest, I consider Cognos to be pretty cumbersome, though one can accomplish great things given time. It has also more bugs than a dog has flees, but at least they are quicker to solve these than BO ever was
Honestly, I know quite a few Cognos developers who would be consider me a medior at the most. And that is no false modesty..
Participating in peer-to-peer forums is something I take a lot of pleasure in. What is better than sharing a little knowledge/experience even if you can perhaps only contribute some hints or point someone in another direction?
I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who thinks Cognos is buggy. Just when I think I know what to expect from the program, it does something different.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions, it's been a tremedous help.
