We are running exchange 5.5

Is it possible to block certain e-mail addresses. These would addresses of old employees that where fired or moved on. On several of these accounts I continue to receive e-mail.

Is it possible to deny or reject e-mail sent to these addresses ?

-Danny

blocking incoming messages from prior employees:

you can go to the problematic mailboxes and under delivery restrictions, reject messages from, you can put the email addresses that are coming in, or block the whole site they are from, using *@problemsite.com

How could I set this up for the whole domain.

I have one exchange server, Could I block a specific domain from sending mail to any e-mail addresses at my domain.

Basically I would like to block a certain few domains from sending us e-mail.

-Danny

user@site.domain.com/org/etc

you could use *@*.bad-domain.com
this would block all users from all sites at the domain.
i think *@domain.com would work just as well though. ie if you are having a problem with people from microsoft just enter *@microsoft.com and all messages from microsoft will be refused.

Before I can add the *@*.problemdomain.com

Do I need to create a custom reciepent ?

-Danny

you shouldnt. this would go in the "refuse email from" tab under the email accounts you are getting the mail with.

ie user1@yourdomain.com and user4@yourdomain.com are gettig this mail and you wish to stop it.. under both of those users' mailboxes, select delivery restrictions, and refuse messages from *@oldusersdomain.*

this will stop the messages from getting to those mailboxes. If you want to apply this to all your users it will take a while.

Yes, but I am not given the option to maunally enter this information in that interface. i have to choose from my receipent list.

It is only available if I create a custom receipent.

I must be missing something ?
