Hi Is there a way of blocking access to the my documents folder for xp users via group policy. I have tried folder redirection but with little success.

If this is Windows 2003 GPO....

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Task Bar\

Remove My Documents Menu icon from Start Menu

that will only remove it from the start menu. I need to physically block them from saving to my documents on the local pc's

Folder redirection is still probably the best solution. Redirect it to a folder they can't write to.

Yes folder redirection with home folders is the way to go about it. Make a home folder for the users to store their stuff.
Then apply the GPO to the user configuration to redirect them to their home folders as their defaut storge location. Anything which user stores in their my documents will be redirected automaticaly to their home folders and nothing will be stored localy.
But this scneario might not work if you have users who are mobile and have offline folders enabled. Offline folders store local copies of their files before it is synchronised with the server copy.

I have tried redirecting the documents to their home drives but for some reason certain people throughout the company are having their home drive links remapped to a different location since applying the gpo
