Hello:

Does anyone know if there is a way to prevent a particular domain from sending mail to my Organization? I'm currently running Exchange 5.5 sp4 on NT40.

I'm not sure if I can use Exchage 5.5 to do this without a third party application.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

CJ

Yes you can do this. use Exchange Server 5.5 IMS Message filtering to block email by domain. Just type the domain in the filter. EB

Open the Internet Mail Service properties, and click the Connections tab.
Click Message Filtering.
Click Add.
To prevent a specific user from delivering messages to your site, type the user's alias and domain name in the following format:
username@domainname.com

To prevent all users in a specific domain from delivering messages to your site, type the domain name in the following format:
@domainname.com

If you want the Internet Mail Service to automatically delete junk e-mail messages, click to select the Delete messages instead of moving to turf directory check box.
If you want the messages to be saved in a "turf" folder, click to clear the Delete messages instead of moving to turf directory check box, and manually create the turf folder.
Save the changes, then start and restart the Internet Mail Service for the changes to take effect. [pc3]

EB,

Thanks for the information; it took me a while to figure it out last night.... it wouldn't stop any of the domains i added. for the hell of it I added "@" and it suddenly work... I wasn't sure if it was a freak accident; so I tried it over and over and over. Until I confirmed that it worked. But thansk again for reposting with details. very helpful.
