I'm new to GroupWise and am wondering if there is good way to block junkmail without buying a Spam Filtering program. I was told, and it seems to work fine, that through... Console One > properties of GWIA > Access Control > Class of Service > Default Class of Service > Prevent Messages From.
When I add email address and domain names in this field it will block incoming messages from that user or domain.
Is this a proper thing to do?
Can I export that list to keep a hard copy?
Can I import a list from Excel (that I created for an Exchange 5.5 box)?
Basically does anyone have pros or cons to share about this process?

I know our IT group is using the GWIA filter.
They put a few domains in this list and also set it up to send a message to one of our IT managers when a message has been blocked.

Hi,

Up to GroupWise 6.0 this was the most effective means of blocking SPAM at the gateway without purchasing a third-party product. The problem is that the spammers are always spoofing different domain names and the solution is relatively ineffective.

GroupWise 6.5 has added substantial new features in the area of SPAM and I highly recommend upgrading. GWIA now supports blacklists and the client has junk mail and block lists. With this two pronged appraoch your company can drastically reduce the amount of SPAM that gets through.

I will have to consider upgrading. It sound like a good way to go. Rather than investing money in a third party product, put the money towards an upgrade that you'll eventually get anyway.
Until then, does anyone know of a way to import/export domain names and email addresses into GroupWise rather than adding them one at a time?
